03/09/2010 Members, Students, Staff and Guests Gather to Celebrate at Installation and Awards Crab Feed
On March 4, 2010, over 100 WECA-IEC members, students, staff and guests gathered for a crab feed dinner to install the Association’s 2010 Board members and executive Committee and hand out its annual awards. The event was held at the Rancho Cordova City Hall and also featured a live auction.
The evening started off with a welcome from Executive Director Terry Seabury who recognized some special guests in the audience, including:
- Event sponsors Rex Moore Electrical Contractors & Engineers, Bosley Electric, Federated Insurance, Inspironix, pacific Advocacy, Platt Electrical Supply, System 3 Inc. and Vasko Electric.
- Western Electrical Contractors Education Foundation (WECEF) scholarship winners Steve Angley, James Hall and Jorge Prieto.
- Industry Partner Members the Coalition for Fair Employment in Construction (CFEC), technology consulting firm Inspironix, employee benefits consulting and insurance brokerage firm Woodruff-Sawyer & Co, Scott & Baldwin CPAs, CPA firm Gallina LLP, construction law firm Cook Brown LLP, Federated Insurance Companies and Platt Electrical Supply.
After the attendees enjoyed a buffet crab feed dinner from Rayna’s Gourmet Catering, Seabury took to the podium to install the 2010 Board members present:
- Board president Eric Nelson of Sathy Electric
- Treasurer David Scott of Scott & Baldwin (Ex-Officio)
- Greg Anderson of Rex Moore Electrical Contractors & Engineers
- Tim Bosley of Bosley Electric
- Wes Owsley of Advanced Electric
- Darryl Vasko of Vasko Electric
- Tom Wilbert of System 3, Inc.
Board members who were not able to attend:
- Vice President Art Munoz of Marticus Electric
- Rick Butterfield of Butterfield Electric
- Mark Cooper of H&D Electric
- Frank Vellutini of Royal Electric
After the Installation of Board members and officers, Seabury announced the evening’s award-winners:
- Free Enterprise: Richard Markuson, Pacific Advocacy
- Instructor of the Year: Zack Wallace, Continuing Education and Electrician Trainee Lead Instructor
- Employee Service Award: Christine Hall, WECA-IEC Training Director
- Man of the Year: Greg Anderson, Rex Moore Electrical Contractors & Engineers
Award-winners not in attendance:
- Immediate Past President: Marc McBride, McBride Electric
- Outstanding Service Award: Nancy Quint, WECA-IEC Administrative Assistant
After the awards had been presented, guests were treated to a live auction presided over by WECA-IEC Continuing Education and Electrician Trainee Program Manager Dan Bierly and his wife Kindra, both trained auctioneers. The prize packages guests could bid on included:
- Family Game Night, with a Nintendo Wii Sports Package and pizza dinner
- Romantic Evening for Two, with wine, flowers, movie tickets and dinner
- Guys Night in, with a poker set, bottle of jack Daniels and drinking glasses and package of fine cigars
- Girls Day Out, a package for two with a pair of spa treatments each and lunch
