03/01/2010   New Industry Partner Helps WECA-IEC Members Better Control Healthcare and Employee Benefits Costs

Woodruff-Sawyer & Company (WS&Co.), an employee benefits consulting and full service insurance brokerage firm, recently joined WECA-IEC as an Industry Partner member. As the broker/consultant for the WECA-IEC Health & Welfare Trust, member companies that participate in the Apprenticeship program have already benefited first hand from their expertise. Hired in August 2009, WS&Co. managed WECA-IEC’s December 1, 2009 renewal and delivered a major reduction in costs and successful implementation of a new medical carrier.

Founded in 1918, WS&Co.’s success has been driven by the integrity of its people and a relentless pursuit of excellence.  One of the largest privately held firms in the West and ranked among the top brokers in the nation, WS&Co. is a fiercely independent company with approximately 30 percent of the firm’s shares held in an ESOP trust and the balance by key management of the firm. This unique blend of employee ownership through the ESOP and equity ownership by working partners of the firm creates an entrepreneurial environment that provides its people with the flexibility to quickly anticipate and respond to clients’ needs.

In addition to WECA-IEC, WS&Co. works with many other contractors and construction related entities including Rex Moore, Clark Pacific and Beutler Corporation. The depth of experience and strength of client relationships in this industry has uniquely positioned WS&Co. to offer assistance in such areas as self-funding, MEWAs, hour banking eligibility management, Davis-Bacon fringe benefit funding and VEBA trusts. They offer executive management unbiased fiduciary counseling balanced by the goal of maintaining the most robust benefit plans for employees.
