WECA offers medical, dental, disability and life insurance benefits to commercial apprentices
indentured in a WECA apprenticeship program, and their families. Available provider options vary
based on where the apprentice lives.

Northern California
For those living in Northern California, a region defined as between Fresno and the Oregon
border, WECA offers CIGNA medical coverage.
There is
no eye exam coverage through CIGNA..

Southern California
For those
living in Southern California, a region
defined as between Bakersfield and the
Mexico border, WECA offers a choice
of CIGNA medical or Kaiser Permanente
Southern California medical coverage. If
you elect Kaiser for your medical
provider your coverage includes eye exam
coverage with a referral from your
Primary Care Physician. There is no eye
exam coverage through CIGNA.

If you would like to enroll in Kaiser Permanente Southern California, you will receive an
enrollment form as part of your new student orientation packet. If you did not receive a form,
call (877) 444-9322, ext. 117.
If you are already a member of Kaiser Permanente Southern California and you need to make
a change to your existing coverage, you may
download a Kaiser Permanente Southern California account change form.

Dental Coverage
WECA offers dental coverage through CIGNA Dental PPO.

WECA Commercial Inside Wireman apprentices can choose to add dependents to his/her health benefit coverage. If you have arranged to have your dependent(s) covered by your WECA health plan, you must pay $100 to $135* by personal or cashier's check, money order or credit card, or by automatic credit card deduction each month, for this coverage. Cash payment may also be accepted at the front counter of the WECA Sacramento Office only.
Payments must be received in the WECA Sacramento Region Office by the 15th of each month prior to the month of coverage. Accounts are considered late on the 16th.
If payment in full is not received by that date, his/her dependent(s) coverage will be retroactively cancelled (back to the date the first invoice became due). The Apprentice will also will be financially responsible for any services used by his/her dependent(s) since the date the first invoice became due.
If an apprentice's dependent(s) coverage is cancelled, he/she must wait until the next open enrollment (normally October of each year) or the occurrence of a qualifying event AND pay all past due invoices before he/she can re-enroll his/her dependent(s).
