MEMBER ORIENTATION

Member Contractors are required to complete WECA’s self-paced Member Orientation in order to be eligible to employ WECA Apprentices.  The Member Orientation is designed to help answer any questions you may have on membership, forms, policies, and procedures related to being a Member of WECA and employing WECA Apprentices. A new Member Contractor who is approved to train WECA apprentices must complete the New Member Orientation and pass the orientation quiz with a score of 100% before apprentices can be dispatched to them. The Member Orientation can be found on our website (www.goweca.com) by logging in using your user name and password.  On the Members Main Menu page, scroll down to the section titled ‘Tools for Contractors’ and select the Member Orientation link.

In addition, we highly recommend that new member contractors have their employees who manage the reporting required when they train apprentices to complete the orientation, in order to ensure they follow all State and Federal regulations and abide by the WECA Training Program Standards.

WECA also provides free tutorials on Prevailing Wage compliance by request. If you should be interested, please contact the WECA Office at (877) 444-9322 or info@goweca.com.

MEMBERSHIP STATUS
Member in Good Standing

In order to be a WECA member in good standing a Member Contractor must pay all dues, fees and contributions on the due dates each month as described in the following sections of this Handbook.

If a member is delinquent he or she will be subject to one or all of the following:
  • daily late fees, and/or
  • a credit check, and/or
  • a cash security deposit, and/or
  • WECA apprentices will be pulled and dispatched to another member in good standing, and/or
  • cancellation of membership

Voluntary Suspension of Membership

A Member Contractor may temporarily suspend (deactivate) WECA membership for business reasons for a period not longer than six months. A Member Contractor may request a Voluntary Suspension of Membership only once in a five-year period during the duration of his or her WECA membership; additional requests for voluntary suspension will not be granted. He or she must request the suspension by writing to WECA, Attentions: Membership. All dues, fees and contributions owed at the time of deactivation must be paid in full to avoid collection efforts and/or legal action.

If the member is employing WECA apprentices at the time he or she requests a membership suspension, the apprentices will immediately be dispatched to another contractor. The member is responsible for any training, health and welfare and pension contributions the apprentices earned while employed at his or her company (including during the required 30-day notification period mentioned below) up to the effective date of deactivation.

Voluntary Reactivation of Membership

If a Member Contractor resumes (reactivates) WECA membership, he or she must also resume IEC membership. If the member chooses not to resume IEC membership, he or she will not be an IEC member for the rest of the calendar year. If, in the new calendar year, the member wants to rejoin IEC, he or she will be required to pay the equivalent of six months' dues to do so.

Voluntary Cancellation of Membership

A Member Contractor who wishes to voluntarily cancel WECA membership must give 30 days written notice to allow WECA time to dispatch any WECA apprentices he or she is employing, and to process the resignation.
